Mountain football participates in the Jefferson County Midget Football Association, one of the premier football leagues in Colorado. Teams are offered to players in 1st through 8th grades. Weight limits exist for backfield players, with mandatory minimum playing times for each player.
A new rule this year allows 1st graders to play up on a 2nd grade team. They will play on the 2nd grade team again the following year. The 2nd-6th grade teams practice three times a week. The 7th and 8th grade teams may practice four times a week. 2nd grade through 5th grade teams play their games on a 60 yard field. 6th grade through 8th grade teams play their games on a regulation 100 yard field.
Games are usually held on Saturday although there may be the exceptional weeknight game depending on need for scheduling. Our team home games are held at Buchanan Field (60 yard), EHS (100 yard), CHS (100 yard) or Clear Creek County HS Idaho Springs (100 yard). The remaining games are scheduled on other Jefferson County fields.
